Background
Éditions Emile (the Group), is a Working Group founded in 2019. The Group has and will continue to have a close association with the Société Jersiaise Photographic Archive (SJPA). This Policy outlines why, what and how the Group publishes.

(c) encourage creative engagement with archives,
(d) develop photographic collections through new accessions,
(e) reach new audiences, and
(f) have fun whilst doing so.
Scope
The Group will publish:
(a) photographic materials,
(b) materials relating to photography and photographers,
(c) within broader visual cultures, and
(d) materials relating to creative engagement with archives.
Methods
The group will publish materials
(a) in print, and
(b) digitally.
Editorial Standards
As a publisher and publishing platform the Group is committed to excellence in its application and interpretation of photography. The Group publishes without bias towards, subject, format, experience or purpose. Published works must seek to engage critically with it’s subject and/or medium. All editors and contributors follow the same core principles of being independent, critical, fair, ethical, inclusive and considerate.
Terms
The Group publishes materials on the following terms:
(a) the content meets legal and ethical requirements, and
(b) a detailed publishing agreement is agreed between the Group and the creator(s)/owner(s) of the materials being published.
(c) The agreement must as a minium cover the granting of rights, compensation, publication and promotion, intellectual property, warranties, representations, and indemnities, termination and general provisions.
Use and reuse
The Group actively supports creators in retaining ownership of their intellectual property. Specific details will be agreed in each publishing agreement, though the Group advocates for the semi-open licensing of copyrighted materials used in publications to encourage non-commercial creative reuse and remove barriers to access.

(a) Changes can be made to this policy at any time by means of a simple majority vote of the
Coordinating Committee.
(b) The SJPA Sub-committee will be notified of any policy changes.
